...and we're back

So I printed out the work ladies classes from the phb I have downloaded on my work computer.  Heather hugged it saying "omg so this is her! This is me!"  Then she looked a bit worried up at me and said in a deep serious tone "I feel like this is some kind of rabbit hole and I am going to get real deep in it and be sitting at home playing alone every night" ...If she only knew...All I could tell her was that it was a VERY deep rabbit hole so be prepared.  Taysha on the other hand was busy being upset about the fact that her son and husband had rolled 20s and 22s for their stats which was much better than her highest of 18.  I told her that is impossible.  She assured me that she told them what to do and supervised them roll 4 dice and count up the top 3.  After I informed her that since they are supposed to be D6s, and since 3*6 can only equal 18, she showed which dice they had used.  "the ones that look like diamonds right?...oh wait...that makes 8 sides"  At least she figured it out on her own :D

The next big concern

Heather was concerned, she had read on the papers I had given her that sorcerer can get their powers from, and this she whispers, looking around cautiously, "demons?".  I cleared the air and assured her it would be okay, and then showed her that she could get her powers from draconic bloodline and showed her the part on sorc origins.  She read all the way up to what she would get through level 18 and started making a lot of plans.   Obviously relieved she got very excited about having "dragon tough" skin and proceeded to tell me she would need water proof hair so it does not get messed up.  I told her we would find a spell and figure it out, as it sounded very important.
They then showed me how they had been making a lot of progress...that really meant they had glue sticked their character pics onto their character sheets.  I gave them a gold star.

One does not, casually play dnd

On teaching corp office women how to role play:

I work in payroll, its fascinating(its not).  My department is part of a bigger corp office(but not that big) for a janitorial company started in 1969 by a now out of touch man named Don Aslet.  Most of the ppl I work with are women over 40 and they are great women.  So when they told me they needed help picking the names for their dnd characters I admit, I was taken a bit off guard.  Now, the two that approched me are the youngest after me so it wasn't that peculiar but they still would never strike anyone as a member of the Gygax Gang.  One, a paralegal who loved to run, Heather (real names not changed privacy), and the other, our work comp gal, Taysha.  They had been told by someone that they should attend the local comic con, maybe to support the community?  idk, we live in Pocatello ID, and the biggest name at last years local con was 'Zombie Kid" Some random kid that dresses like a zombie? idk that either but I digress.  They decided that if they were to go, they wold need to dress up.  looking up pictures online, they soon realized that if they dressed up in some kind cosplay, people might ask them about it so this is where Harley comes in.  Our IT guy who plays weekly at the local adventurers league(dnd shit).  He told them they could dress as a dnd character and just play a session so they knew what they were talking about if asked.  The plan was set!

Taysha took a quiz, it told her she would be level 5 Human Druid, good alignment, and she found a picture to go with it(see visual aid, unless i forget to put it in)

Heather not to be outdone found a picture as well, stating confidently "I dont think I need a quiz, I want to be like a fire sorceress!" (instert pic again)

the next tragedy was they needed to know how to pick a name.  I gave them some racial examples but in the end told them the sky was the limit.  They didnt understand that, more ground rules were needed.  A whole day of emails goes by before names are chosen (they still arent really chosen, its two days later and I am still getting emails with different elven names the email count has to at least be 40 by now)

I was asked to Dungeon Master for them and gave in, after all this would be too funny to miss out on.  I sent them this reply

"Okay great, you are all level 5, here are your character sheets to fill out lol be ready, you will all start on a deserted forest path leading up to a cave where the ground is littered with the bones of other creatures and some even look suspiciously human.  A nearby sign says something in elvish, you will have to get closer to try and read, good luck.  Lol ;)"

To which they send me:

"Like this?"

I almost died.  It was incredible, some of the best visual aid from someone who had obviously used paint and stock pictures from lord of the rings, I had EVER seen, and that is how I knew that this would be a grand adventure indeed...

Dessa may have taken STGs place as my second or third favorite band, sorry babes, its been good but you were out of that spot like 10 years ago anyhow so you should be over it.  We saw Dessa this week!  It was pretty great, she was pretty great, the whole trip was pretty great.  She freakin killed it and stayed after the show to talk to anyone that wanted to so that was rad.  Kristin called some people "small" so that was hilarious especially since the other girl was a few inches taller by far.

Next day we spent at least 4 hours walking around slc going to bookstores followed by beer and a burger at Squatters.  So that was pretty much heaven *swoons* Although now all I want to do is go lay outside and read rather than be here at work today :( 5 hours to go!

So this blog is still here and lucky for all my readers(0) I am still obnoxious.

My last post was almost six years ago, minus a month and looking back not that much has changed.  I still think cheese-in-a-can is one of the most impressive inventions of our time, I still think Tamagachi=Jesus, and that you shouldn't point fingers at crazy ppl and most importantly we still have to "clean up as we go", wise words from the psychos who made Les Beans, that I still recall every time I cook literally anything.

Honestly, other than that a decent amount has changed in six years I guess.  New dog, this is trunks, he is already old, poor little princeImage may contain: outdoor and nature

Thats mah brown eyed boi, Trunks, thats right, he travels through time to kick android butt.

I have a lot of new friends that put up with me Image may contain: 10 people, including Joseph Ray James, Riann Collins, Shelbie Jaide Bowen, Jennifer Cooke, Katy Holverson and Kristin Langedyke, people smiling, people standing

Image may contain: 9 people, including Shelbie Jaide Bowen, Joseph Ray James, Jennifer Cooke, Riann Collins, Katy Holverson and Kristin Langedyke, people smiling, people sitting  Man, they are great, and importantly very nerdy.   I am also lucky to have kept a lot of old friends and although I dont talk to all of them there are many who have stayed close even from far away.  Felicia is off fullfulling her dreams swimming with dolphins, Andrew is making ppl laugh, Gabby is still doing her best to drive me nuts, and Colleen still visits from across the country every year.  Things are touch and go with Talia, that was a roller coaster and a story for another day but I still see her from time to time.  Well work is over and I have to go home, I got too busy so I will finish this at a later time.  Peace!

Potty monster

It's like when you are doing something so stupid and you just cant seem to stop yourself doing it anyway...and then you keep doing it all day...and then all night...willing yourself to stop damnit!  Also along those lines, as of the last few months i have been putting my phone in my back pocket.  Honestly I blame the sadistic pig who created women's jeans, why the fuck would you think pockets that small make any god damn sense you god damn fetus?   Regardless every time I sit to relieve my strangely small and impatient bladder, be I slightly buzzed the instance in question or not, my phone, a new Droid mind you, tries ever so hard to slip out of my pocket and into the toilet when I stand up.  Every time I am all like "Riann, girl, you gotta stop doing that because your phone is going to fall right into that toilet", which I thankfully just cleaned yesterday.  Well as you guessed that frightful day has come, after drinking two giant twisted teas (it was one of those days), between games of halo I squabble off to the lou.  I sit down and all is well, I do my business and all is well, but I stand up and all is well...but, the damned xbox controller falls off my lap and when I bend to pick it up everything goes down the drain...no pun intended. "plunk" Instantly my brain is like "fuckinggoddamnedbitchasssluts" of course its my phone.  Long, sad, disgusting story and seven hours later my phone is still like "fuck you Riann ha!" so alas the main result: boredom and blogspot, although it has been years.  Thank god for the internet.  So now as I sit in front of my computer for hours hoping someone with message me because life is that jobless and sad.  Sigh...I'm sure I will something much better to complain about tomorrow. ttfn
